A new book publishing initiative has been launched at Backword Books, described as:
A collective of unique, strong, talented personalities who will embrace the idea of exploring a new paradigm. There are no financial ties here – this is a partnership comprised of a common goal. People read good books. The BACKWORD authors write good books.
Backword Books was launched by Henry Baum, editor of SelfPublishingReview.com and author of a number of fine novels, including the award-winning “North of Sunset.”
“Spam & Eggs: A Johnny Denovo Mystery” was selected as one of the first six titles on Backword Books because of its quality and appeal. I’m very happy to be among the inaugural authors. I’m in good company.
One of the challenges for all authors — self-published or not — is to gain enough media and reader attention. Thousands of titles go unread or unrecognized, despite their quality. Meanwhile, a few mediocre titles get huge marketing support from major publishers and unjustly dominate the bestseller lists.
The landscape for readers and book buyers should be more balanced. Backword Books provides the editorial gatekeeping and selectivity necessary to identify promising authors and worthy titles. If the marketing support is strong enough, it might become a force in creating balance and directing readers to exciting, interesting titles they’ll really enjoy.
